    Indfødsretprøven (The Naturalisation Test)

One of the prerequisites for obtaining Danish citizenship is passing lndfødsretsprøven.

To obtain Danish citizenship, you need to pass lndfødsretsprøven. It tests your knowledge of Danish social conditions and values, and of Danish culture and the history of Denmark. It comprises 45 questions. For each question there are two or three answers to choose from. To pass the test, you must answer 36 of the 45 questions correctly, including 4 of the 5 questions about Danish values. All foreigners who have applied or intend to apply for Danish citizenship can sit lndfødsretsprøven.

The 45 written questions in the test consist of:

    • 35 questions about the history of Denmark, and Danish society and culture
    • 5 unprepared questions about current conditions and events in Danish society. The topics focus on items in Danish news media within the six months prior to the test
    • 5 unprepared questions about Danish values: for example, freedom of expression, equality or the relationship between religion and law

This written test lasts 45 minutes. You may not use external aids for the test.
